About Us
Jivan Vikas
Empowers marginalized tribes in Sundargarh by ensuring access to rights, education, and livelihoods. Through advocacy, training, and capacity-building, it fosters equality, justice, and resilience.
Jivan Vikas was established in 2000 to promote social, economic, and political development opportunities for isolated tribal communities in the Koira Block of Sundargarh District, under the leadership of social activist Bhajamana Mahanta. As a dedicated social worker, Mr. Mahanta gained extensive experience through his associations with Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Sundargarh Chapter, for four years; SEWAK, a leading NGO in Sundargarh, for one year; and SGUP, an NGO working in the Bonai Subdivision of Sundargarh, for four years.
Jivan Vikas is a secular, non-profit organization founded with the goal of empowering marginalized communities to take control of their lives, access resources, and actively participate in democratic institutions. This is achieved through people’s organizations, training and capacity-building initiatives, networking, and rights-based advocacy.
Currently, Jivan Vikas is working with 12,168 individuals across five Gram Panchayats in 35 tribal villages within the Lahunipara Block of Sundargarh District. The organization's head office is located at Gudhiali, Rajamunda, Lahunipara, Sundargarh, while its registered office is situated in Jamudihi, Koira Block, Sundargarh.
